Meet Irving ~
Life on the street is hard. Life on the street when you can't see is a nightmare.
This was Irving's life. Blind from retinal disease, Irving was abused, beaten and tossed to the street because he couldn't
be made into a fighter. Helpless, Irving wandered the streets in search of any little kindness. What he found mostly was indifference.
Sometimes, a kind person would offer him something to eat or maybe a cup of water but mostly this amazing dog survived on
pure grit. It's a miracle that he managed to avoid the cars that sped along the highway as he'd work to get across the busy
street, usually following the sun for any bit of warmth to ease the pains of his battered body. But one day,
Irving's fortune changed when he was anonymously brought to a nearby shelter. There, Irving was met with untold kindness,
and care, and above all love. He was safe...for the time being. As gentle and as loving as he proved to be, his special needs
made it difficult to care for him as a shelter dog. He needed a forever home. Someplace where he could settle in without the
daily confusion and frenzied pace of the shelter. Irving needed a house...
Well,
as someone once said...it takes a village, or in this case, a group of volunteers who share the vision (no pun) for giving
animals like Irving a place to call home. A place where they are safe and loved and where their needs no matter how special
are tended.
At Irving House Animal Sanctuary we provide a safe harbor where the abused, neglected, and
discarded are warmly wanted and welcomed. No matter their age, no matter their needs, they have a forever home at Irving's
house because nobody knows better than him what it's like to be homeless.
